Berzé le Châtel castle

Imposing medieval fortress overlooking vineyards in Lamartine’s valley. Set in a -conservation area opposite the prehistoric site of Solutré.

Built between the 13th and 15th centuries around the 10th century Carolingian Chapel.

Within the castle walls, three separate walled gardens incorporating orchards, kitchen gardens and a French parterre.

Events of the year

Medieval festivals on May 29, 30, 31 and june 1st : artisan market, horse jousting, archery shows and fights, on-site catering.

The Medievals of the Assumption, from August 15 to 17 : medieval activities, archers and cannoneers, artisan market. Catering on site.

2025 open or guided visits (55 mins)

  • From April 5 to June 24 and from September 1 to November 2:
    Open every day except Monday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Last admission at 5 p.m. Guided tour at 5 p.m.
  • From June 24 to August 31:
    Open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Last admission at 6 p.m. Self-guided and guided tours available. (See schedule on our website)

Tastings

Tastings are available at the end of the tours, either directly at the boutique or in the château gardens, upon reservation.
