Built on the remains of a Gallo-Roman camp, Brandon was part of the Duchy of Burgundy´s military defence up until the end of the 15th century.
An excellent example of military architecture, with Upper and Lower walled Courtyards, 12th century Watchman´s Round and 13th century drawbridge tower.
The main building was modified during the reign of King Louis XIII when the fortress was turned into a 17th century country seat: dining-room, drawing-room, great hall, study. Heraldry exhibition. Brandon is a family home lived in all year round. Wonderful panoramic view.
